The Viper Is Dead! Long Live the Viper!

Tuesday June 23, 2009

Chrysler reported that it only had one, low, lonely offer for its Dodge Viper business prior to being brought under Fiat's umbrella earlier this month. Since they didn't accept the offer, the Viper went along for the ride and is currently part of Fiat's assets.

Immediately post-sale, the first factory Chrysler fired up was the one that builds Vipers. The plant only has a little over 100 employees, though, so it was probably the easiest one to restart. But according to an article in the Wall Street Journal, the Viper is still headed for the chopping block by the end of the year. If you've got $100,000 or so and a need for 600 hp from 10 American-made cylinders, better get it while the gettin's good.
